1. Acknowledgement and Acceptance of Terms

Clontech Laboratories, Inc. (“Clontech”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy (the “Policy”) sets forth our current privacy practices with regard to the information we collect when you or your computer interact with our website (www.clontech.com, the “Site”). Your use of the Site is subject to this Policy, which you may print or download at any time. By accessing the Site you acknowledge that you fully understand this Policy and freely consent to the information collection and use practices described herein. We reserve the right to change this Policy at any time by posting the revised policy at this location.

2. Personally identifying information.

When you register on this Site, you will be asked to provide personally identifying contact information (e.g., name, organization, address, phone number, e-mail address, fax number, and so on) and other information. We may also collect and retain personally identifying information and other information from you in a number of other ways, such as when you place an order, complete customer surveys, submit a feedback or contact form, or provide a resume. If any third parties provide information to us about you, we may combine that information with other information we have about you. In such case, we will treat the combined information in accordance with this Policy.

Use of cookies and website data. We may collect various information from you during your interaction with the Site, such as the URL of the site you came from, your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the date of your visit, the amount of time you spent on the Site, and other web-server log-file data (“Clickstream Data”). Third Party Cookies --The use of cookies by our tracking utility company and service providers is not covered by our privacy policy. We do not have access to or control over these cookies. Our tracking utility company uses session ID cookies to make it easier for you to navigate our site and to insure content relevant to you is displayed.

Web beacons

Our web pages contain electronic images known as web beacons (sometimes called single-pixel gifs) and are used along with cookies to compile aggregated statistics to analyze how our site is used and may be used in some of our emails to let us know which emails and links have been opened by recipients. This allows us to gauge the effectiveness of our customer communications and marketing campaigns.

How we use information about you.

Clontech provides tools and reagents to individuals conducting basic research in the field of Life Sciences, accordingly the Site is not directed to children and Clontech does not knowingly collect personally identifying information from individuals under the age of 18.

3. Choice

We will provide you with reasonable mechanisms to exercise your choice regarding receipt of information from Clontech. When you subscribe to the Site, we will offer you the opportunity to opt-out or opt-in to any future correspondence. Individuals are also given the opportunity to opt-out when they receive an email notification from Clontech, by simply clicking on the unsubscribe link of the e-mail. You may also go to the literature request form on the website and opt-out of any future messages. Simply type “opt-out” in the comment box, and the information will be updated within 30 days.

We will share your personally identifying information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this Privacy Policy. We do not otherwise sell your personally identifying information to third parties.

4. Transfers to Third Parties

Clontech does not provide the personally identifying information you supply to us to third party mailing lists.

Except as specifically described in this Policy, we will not, sell, trade or transfer your personally identifying information to unaffiliated third parties other than authorized third parties (e.g., contractors supporting operation of this Site) and others involved in the e-commerce distribution chain (e.g., vendors, service providers) who may need access to some of your personally identifying information. Disclosures required by law.

Upon request, Clontech will grant you reasonable access to the personally identifying information that we hold on you. In addition, we will take reasonable steps to permit you to correct, amend, or delete information that is demonstrated to be inaccurate or incomplete, by logging into your account and making changes on the “Preferred Bill to/Ship to Address” and “Preferred Contact Information” pages. Data Retention

We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you wish to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services contact us at webmaster@clontech.com. We will retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

6. Security

The security of your personally identifying information is important to us. Clontech will take reasonable precautions to protect personally identifying information in its possession from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personally identifying information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. Clontech will conduct compliance audits of its relevant privacy practices to verify adherence to this Policy. Any employee that the Company determines is in violation of this Policy will be subject to disciplinary action.
