New EIA kits for diabetes-related research

  • Human Glucagon EIA Kit: Glucagon is a hormone synthesized in pancreatic alpha cells and has a role in direct opposition to that of insulin. Acting in the liver, this hormone breaks down stored glycogen and transfers sugar into the bloodstream in order to help maintain homeostasis of blood sugar concentration. This new product is a colorimetric two-antibody sandwich-type EIA kit for quantitative measurement of human glucagon in serum, plasma, and cultured medium.
  • Mouse/Rat/Pig Glucagon Competitive EIA Kit: This product is a single antibody-antigen competitive EIA kit for the quantitative measurement of glucagon in serum, plasma, cultured medium, and other samples.
  • Human/Mouse/Rat C-Peptide Competitive EIA Kit: C-peptide is produced in pancreatic beta cells through the processing of proinsulin. It has a half-life 2–5 times longer than that of insulin, and its concentration in the blood may reflect the production of proinsulin in the pancreas more accurately than insulin concentration. This product is a single antibody-antigen competitive EIA kit for the quantitative measurement of C-peptide in serum, plasma, urine, and cell culture media.

Interferon gamma detection kits

Interferon gamma (IFN gamma) is a cytokine that contributes to activation, growth, and division of T lymphocytes and various other cells. It plays an important role in immune and inflammatory responses, and is hypothesized to inhibit excessive vascular expansion in response to arterial damage caused by stenosis. These EIA kits quantitatively detect INF gamma in mouse, human, or pig serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatant.

Organ regeneration biomarker antibodies

Several recently identified neural differentiation biomarkers allow insight into organ regeneration, embryogenesis, and regenerative medicine. Bf1, Rx, Irx3, and Crx antibodies join our existing list of neural differentiation biomarkers, which includes L7, Otp, Emx1, Six3, and Otx2. These new antibodies can detect the following cell types within the developing nervous system:

A clinical grade anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody (OKT3) for T cell expansion protocols

The anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody (OKT3 clone) recognizes CD3, an antigen that is expressed on T cells, some NKT cells, and thymocytes during T cell differentiation. OKT3 stimulation is often used in gene therapy protocols to expand T lymphocytes in culture. Manufactured as a quality-assured product according to guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for Investigational Products, this Anti-CD3 mAb (GMP) can be used for ex vivo applications including T cell expansion.

A complete workflow for generating recombinant adeno-associated viral vectors

Recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors are popular tools for gene delivery to mammalian cells and for gene therapy. Clontech now offers a complete workflow for AAV particle production:

New ELISA kits

  • Human HB-EGF Assay Kit: Heparin-binding EGF-like growth factor (HB-EGF) is a member of the EGF family expressed in epidermal cells, cardiac myocytes, vascular endothelial cells, smooth myocytes, and macrophages. Over-expression of HB-EGF is implicated in cancer invasion and metastasis, making HB-EGF an attractive drug target. This ELISA kit uses 2 kinds of highly specific antibodies to quantify human HB-EGF in serum, EDTA plasma, urine, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and cell culture supernatants.
  • GLP-1, Inactive form Assay Kit: The protein encoded by the human proglucagon (GCG) gene is processed after translation into several polypeptides, each of which undergoes further modification. Two of these polypeptides constitute the biologically active forms of glucagon-like polypeptide 1 (GLP-1), which are rapidly degraded by dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) into inactive GLP-1 peptides. This new ELISA kit specifically detects the inactive forms of GLP-1. We also offer an ELISA kit to specifically detect the active forms.
  • Human FGF19 Assay Kit & Human FGF21 Assay Kit: The fibroblast growth factor (FGF) subfamily, is composed of FGF19, FGF21, and FGF23, bind the receptors α/β Klotho, and is characterized as a factor group with hormonal functions. FGF19 is secreted from the intestines and transported to the liver through the bloodstream. FGF21 is secreted in the liver, and reportedly has lipolytic action in fatty tissues. These kits can assay human blood for density of FGF19 and FGF21, respectively.
  • Rat DMP1 Assay Kit: Dentin Matrix Protein 1 (DMP1) is a constitutive protein in the extracellular matrix of osteocytes, and also acts as a regulator of endocrine cells which secrete fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF-23). This ELISA kit can quantitatively measure the concentration of DMP1 in rat blood.
  • Human α-Synuclein Assay Kit: α-Synuclein is known as an intrinsically disordered protein, involved with the signal regulatory system of synaptic vesicles, and is a main structural component of the Lewy body. This ELISA kit can quantitatively measure its concentration in human blood or human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

Choose the best agarose gel for your application

Sensitive detection of acrolein in biological and environmental samples

Acrolein is a highly cytotoxic environmental contaminant produced by burning of petroleum, coal, wood, and plastic, and found in cigarette smoke and exhaust gas. The biological and physiological effects of acrolein are being actively investigated. To assist in these efforts, the Acrolein-Lysine Adduct Competitive EIA Kit has been developed.

Detect mouse feeder cell contamination in stem cell cultures

Mouse feeder cells are used to support the growth and cultivation of stem cells such as hESC (human embryonic stem cells) and hiPSC (human induced pluripotent stem cells)—but they must be removed before use in certain applications, such as regenerative medicine. The Mouse Feeder Cell Quantification Kit is designed to assess stem cell culture quality by measuring mouse feeder cell contamination in genomic DNA extracted from stem cell cultures—using real-time PCR to detect and quantify a mouse mitochondrial (mt) DNA sequence.
