The FastPure RNA Kit allows simple and quick extraction of highly pure total RNA from cultured cells and mammalian tissues via centrifugation. The first step in the FastPure Protocol is preparation of lysates via homogenization of mammalian tissues or cells using the supplied Lysis and Solubilization Buffers. Then the lysate is placed in a cartridge with a revolutionary polymer filter with an affinity for nucleic acids. The cartridge is spun in a microcentrifuge and total RNA is collected.
This system allows isolation of RNA without laborious and time-consuming organic extractions or ethanol precipitations. In addition, the polymer filter used is more efficient at RNA extraction than conventional glass fiber filters, and total RNA can be prepared with higher yield and purity than standard methods.
Starting Quantities: With cultured cells, about 1 x 106–1.5 x 107 cells are recommended for total RNA extraction; for mammalian tissues 5–30 mg is recommended.
