Proteinase K

Proteinase K is a high activity serine protease. Its activity is stable in the presence of calcium salt and increases in the presence of protein denaturants such as SDS or urea. Proteinase K is usable on a wide range of substrates. It degrades ester and peptide bonds preferentially next to C-termini of hydrophobic, sulfuric or aromatic amino acids.
