pBApo-CMV- DNA is a simple mammalian expression vector as well as an shRNA expression vector; as a result, it can be used to express protein-coding genes as well as micro RNA precursors and other transcripts. The pBApo-CMV DNA vectors all carry a promoter from cytomegalovirus (CMV IE) and a polyA signal site from the herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase gene. These vectors may be used during expression plasmid construction by inserting the ORF of a target gene into the multiple cloning site. The pBApo-CMV DNA vectors can also be used to express microRNA precursors and other transcripts in addition to ordinary genes. Furthermore, a [promoter + ORF + polyA signal]-containing cassette can easily be cut out of these vectors and transferred to adenovirus vectors. Because adenovirus vectors have high infection efficiencies and a wide target cell spectrum, they are suitable for in vitro and in vivo gene transductions. For construction of recombinant adenoviruses, the Adenovirus Dual Expression Kit (Cat. #6170) is recommended.
The pBApo-CMV Neo DNA and pBApo-CMV Pur DNA vectors carry a neomycin or puromycin resistance gene, respectively, as a selection marker in mammalian cells. Either neomycin or puromycin allows for stable product expression in mammalian cells.
