Anti-Human Rad51 (1B1) Mouse IgG MoAb

Members of the Rad51 protein family are highly homologous to bacterial RecA and Saccharomyces cerevisiae Rad51. These proteins are involved in the homologous recombination and repair of double-stranded breaks in DNA. Rad51 can interact with the ssDNA-binding protein RPA and Rad52. Rad51 also interacts with products of two genes implicated in susceptibility to breast cancer, BRCA1 and BRCA2. In particular, BRCA2 protein is shown to regulate both the intracellular localization and DNA-binding ability of Rad51. Inactivation of BRCA2 leads to loss of Rad51-mediated transcriptional control, and this inactivation may be central to genomic instability and tumorigenesis.
