Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) is 76 amino-acid cytokine that belongs to the CC chemokine subfamily. It is also known as macrophage/monocyte chemotactic and activating factor (MCAF), chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 2 (CCL2), small inducible cytokine A2, SCYA2, HC11, GDCF-2, SMC-CF, monocyte secretory protein JE, and monocyte chemotactic protein. MCP-1 recruits monocytes, memory T cells, and dendritic cells to the sites of inflammation produced by either tissue injury or infection. MCP-1 is implicated in several types of chronic inflammatory diseases, such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, nephritis, and atherosclerosis.
This kit is a solid-phase sandwich ELISA using two antibodies that are highly specific to rat MCP-1 protein; one is precoated on the ELISA plate and the other is HRP-conjugated. This assay kit can be used to measure soluble rat MCP-1 protein in serum, urine, or cell culture supernatants.
