Mouse macrophage inflammatory protein 2 (MIP-2, also known as MIP-2-alpha) is the homolog of human chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 2 (CXCL2) protein, a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine subfamily. It was previously known as GRO2 oncogene, GRO-beta, and melanoma growth stimulating activity beta (MSGA-beta). MIP-2 is also homologous to rat CINC-2. MIP-2 is expressed by activated monocytes and neutrophils at sites of inflammation. It has also been shown to control mucosal lymphocyte migration in mice.
This kit is a solid-phase sandwich ELISA using two antibodies that are highly specific to mouse MIP-2 protein; one is precoated on the ELISA plate and the other is HRP-conjugated. This assay kit can be used to measure soluble mouse MIP-2 protein in serum, EDTA plasma, or cell culture supernatants.
