Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 1 (CXCL1) is a small cytokine belonging to the CXC chemokine subfamily that is expressed by macrophages, neutrophils, and epithelial cells. It was previously known as GRO1 oncogene, GRO-alpha, fibroblast secretory protein (FSP), and melanoma growth stimulating activity alpha (MSGA-alpha). CXCL1 is also known as neutrophil-activating protein 3 (NAP-3), growth-regulated alpha protein, C-X-C motif chemokine 1, SCYB1, and GROA. The rat homolog of human CXCL1 is known as CINC-1. CXCL1 is secreted by human melanoma cells, has mitogenic properties, and is implicated in melanoma pathogenesis. It inhibits the migration of oligodendrocyte precursors during spinal cord development. CXCL1 also acts as a chemoattractant for neutrophils, and is involved in angiogenesis, inflammation, wound healing, and tumorigenesis.
This kit is a solid-phase sandwich ELISA using two antibodies that are highly specific to human CXCL1 (GRO-alpha) protein; one is precoated on the ELISA plate and the other is HRP-conjugated. This assay kit can be used to measure soluble human CXCL1 (GRO-alpha) protein in serum, EDTA plasma, or cell culture supernatants.
