VEGF ELISA Kits

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a cell signaling protein that promotes embryonic development of the circulatory system (vasculogenesis), and growth of new blood vessels from existing vasculature (angiogenesis). It is also known as VEGF-A, vascular permeability factor, and MVCD1. Human VEGF is a 38 kDa homodimeric protein that consists of two 165 amino-acid polypeptide chains. VEGF is expressed in many human tumor cells, and the consequent increased vascularization enables tumors to grow rapidly. Other members of the VEGF family include placenta growth factor (PGF), VEGF-B, VEGF-C, and VEGF-D.

These kits are solid-phase sandwich ELISAs using two antibodies that are highly specific to human, mouse, or rat VEGF protein; one is precoated on the ELISA plate, and the other is HRP-conjugated. These kits can be used to measure soluble human, mouse, or rat VEGF protein in EDTA plasma or cell culture supernatants.
