The c-Met proto-oncogene encodes a protein known as hepatocyte growth factor receptor (HGFR). HGFR (also known as RCCP2, scatter factor receptor or SF receptor, and AUTS9) is a heterodimeric protein, composed of one alpha subunit and one beta subunit. The highly glycosylated alpha chain contains the extracellular domain of HGFR, while the beta unit contains the transmembrane domain. HGFR possesses tyrosine kinase activity. It is expressed mainly in epithelial cells, and is involved in activation of several oncogenic pathways, tumor metastasis, and angiogenesis.
This kit is a solid-phase sandwich ELISA using two antibodies that are highly specific to human HGFR protein; one is precoated on the ELISA plate and the other is HRP-conjugated. This assay kit can be used to measure soluble human HGFR protein in serum, EDTA plasma, or cell culture supernatants.
