Human Anti-Cadherin Antibody

Cadherins are 723-747 amino acid transmembrane glycoproteins that function as Ca2+-dependent adhesion receptors and are responsible for tight junctions1. The cadherin family has a number of members including E- (epithelial), P- (placental) and N- (neural) cadherin, all of which share a common basic structure (see below) but have distinct tissue distributions. The specific binding properties of each cadherin member appear to control selective cell-to-cell adhesion. Regulated expression of the members during development implicates their involvement in morphogenesis. Recent findings also suggest a relationship between cadherin expression and tumor invasion and metastasis1, 2.

Human anti-cadherin antibody clones are constructed by fusing immunized host splenocytes with P3-X63-Ag8 myelomas. Clones HECD-1, SHE78-7 and NCC-CAD-299 are purified from ascitic fluid. Other clones are purified from serum-free culture supernatant.

Storage

Lyophilized antibody is stable at 4°C for up to 2 years. The reconstituted solution can be stored at 4°C for 6 months and at –20°C for 1 year.
