VEGF Antibody products are affinity-purified VEGF antibodies (IgG) that recognize human or rat VEGF-A or VEGF-C protein. Anti VEGF Antibody is raised in rabbit or mouse using a synthetic peptide or recombinant protein and can be used for Western blot (WB) or immunohistochemistry (IHC) of VEGF-A or VEGF-C protein.
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a cell signaling protein that often exists as a disulfide-linked homodimer. It is encoded by the VEGFA gene in humans. VEGF promotes embryonic development of the circulatory system (vasculogenesis) and new blood vessel formation from existing vasculature (angiogenesis). VEGF also regulates vascular permeability, endothelial cell growth, cell migration and apoptosis. VEGF is expressed in many tumor samples; VEGF-mediated vascularization enables tumors to grow rapidly. Mutations in VEGFA are associated with proliferative and nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy. VEGF is also known as VEGF-A, vascular permeability factor (VPF) and MVCD1. Other members of the VEGF family include placental growth factor (PGF), VEGF-B, VEGF-C and VEGF-D.
