Anti-Human TIMP-1 (T172) Rabbit IgG Antibody

Proteins encoded by the tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (TIMP) family of genes are natural inhibitors of the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). MMPs are peptidases involved in degradation of the extracellular matrix. TIMP-1 inhibits most MMPs and also promotes cell proliferation in a wide range of cell types. It is reported to have a protective effect against apoptosis in breast carcinomas and other primary tumors. Transcription of the TIMP1 gene can be induced by many cytokines and hormones. TIMP-1 is also known as TIMP metallopeptidase inhibitor 1, fibroblast collagenase inhibitor, erythroid-potentiating activity (EPA), metalloproteinase inhibitor 1, CLGI, and EPO.

This product is an affinity-purified IgG antibody that recognizes human TIMP-1 protein. The antibody was raised in rabbit using a synthetic peptide and can be used for Western blot (WB) detection of human TIMP-1 protein.
