Doxycycline
Doxycycline (Dox), a derivative of tetracycline (Tc), is the recommended inducer for all of Clontech’s Tet Inducible Expression Systems. In the Tet-On® Advanced System, addition of Dox to the culture medium induces the rtTA-Advanced transactivator to bind to the Tet response element (TRE), this results in transcriptional activation of the gene of interest. Conversely, in the Tet-Off® Advanced System, removal of Dox from the culture medium induces binding of the tTA-Advanced transactivator, resulting in transcription of the gene of interest.
