This privacy policy (the “Policy”) sets forth our current privacy practices with regard to the information we collect when you or your computer interact with our website (, the “Site”). Your use of the Site is subject to this Policy, which you may print or download at anytime. By accessing the Site you acknowledge that you fully understand this Policy and freely consent to the information collection and use practices described herein. We reserve the right to change this Policy at any time by posting the revised policy at this location.

Personally identifying information.  When you register on this Site, you will be asked to provide personally identifying contact information (e.g., name, organization, address, phone number, e-mail address, fax number, and so on) and other information. We may also collect and retain personally identifying information and other information from you in a number of other ways, such as when you place an order, complete customer surveys, submit a feedback or contact form, or provide a resume.    If any third parties provide information to us about you, we may combine that information with other information we have about you. In such case, we will treat the combined information in accordance with this Policy.

Use of cookies and website data. We may collect various information from you during your interaction with the Site, such as the URL of the site you came from, your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the date of your visit, the amount of time you spent on the Site, and other web-server log-file data (“Clickstream Data”). Generally, we are not able to relate such data to you as an individual if you just browse our Site without disclosing your identity to us, e.g., by logging in as a registered user.

How we use information about you. We use Clickstream Data and cookies to store your preferences, improve website navigation, make personalized features and other services available to you, compile and analyze aggregate statistics and trends, and otherwise help improve the Site and/or our products and services.

From time to time, we may use contact information obtained via this Site to distribute Clontech product information via opt-in preference.  If you order products or services via our Site, we may contact you by e-mail to send you information about your order (e.g., order confirmations, shipment notifications, etc). We may also contact you via e-mail regarding your account status, and about changes to any relevant agreements or policies.   Clontech will not use or disclose your personally identifying information for a purpose other than that for which it was originally collected without your prior consent.

We reserve the right to make full use of information that is not in a personally identifying form. 

Clontech provides tools and reagents to individuals conducting basic research in the field of Life Sciences, accordingly the Site is not directed to children and Clontech does not knowingly collect personally identifying information from individuals under the age of 18.

3. Choice

We will provide you with reasonable mechanisms to exercise your choice regarding receipt of information from Clontech.  When you subscribe to the Site, we will offer you the opportunity to opt-out or opt-in to any future correspondence. Individuals are also given the opportunity to opt-out when they receive an email notification from Clontech, by simply clicking on the unsubscribe link of the e-mail.  You may also go to the literature request form on the website and opt-out of any future messages. Simply type “opt-out” in the comment box, and the information will updated within 30 days.

We will share your personally identifying information with third parties only in the ways that are described in this Privacy Statement. We do not otherwise sell your personally identifying information to third parties.

4. Transfers to Third Parties

Clontech does not provide the personally identifying information you supply to us to third party mailing lists.

Except as specifically described in this Policy, we will not, sell, trade or transfer your personally identifying information to unaffiliated third parties other than authorized third parties (e.g., contractors supporting operation of this Site) and others involved in the e-commerce distribution chain (e.g., vendors, service providers) who may need access to some of your personally identifying information. We oblige such third parties to comply with this Policy and limit their access and use of your personally identifying information to that which is necessary to provide these services to us.

Disclosures required by law. Upon request, Clontech will grant you reasonable access to the personally identifying information that we hold on you. In addition, we will take reasonable steps to permit you to correct, amend, or delete information that is demonstrated to be inaccurate or incomplete.

You may also contact us directly via the feedback form on the Site to opt-out or to update your contact information. To opt-out, simply type “opt-out” in the comment box, and the information will updated within 30 days.

6. Security

The security of your personally identifying information is important to us. Clontech will take reasonable precautions to protect personally identifying information in its possession from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personally identifying information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it.  When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card numbers, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).

Please be aware, however, that no method of transmission over the Internet, nor any method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personally identifying information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Clontech will use personally identifying information only in ways that are compatible with the purposes for which it was collected or subsequently authorized by you. Clontech will conduct compliance audits of its relevant privacy practices to verify adherence to this Policy. Any employee that the Company determines is in violation of this Policy will be subject to disciplinary action. In addition, as a demonstration of its commitment to privacy, Clontech has agreed to have its privacy practices reviewed for compliance by TRUSTe.

We reserve the right to modify this Policy at any time. When we do, we will also revise the “updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to periodically review this Policy to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personally identifying information we collect.
