This Privacy Statement sets forth our current privacy practices with regard to the information we collect when you or your computer interact with our website. By accessing www.clontech.com, or any sub domain of clontech.com you acknowledge and fully understand Clontech’s Privacy Statement and freely consent to the information collection and use practices described in this Website Privacy Statement.
2. Participating Merchant Policies
Related services and offerings with links from this website, including vendor sites, have their own privacy statements that can be viewed by clicking on the corresponding links within each respective website. Online merchants and others who participate in Clontech’s services are encouraged to participate in industry privacy initiatives and to take a responsible attitude towards consumer privacy. However, since we do not have direct control over the policies or practices of participating merchants and other third parties, we are not responsible for the privacy practices or contents of those sites. We recommend and encourage that you always review the privacy policies of merchants and other third parties before you provide any personal information or complete any transaction with such parties. Viawarp is the merchant company for all Clontech web sales transactions. Viawarp as a merchant services company processes all credit checks for Clontech.

Where Clontech collects personal information directly from individuals in the U.S. and EU, it will inform them about the type of personal information collected, the purposes for which it collects and uses the personal information, and the types of non-agent third parties to which the Company discloses or may disclose that information, and the choices and means. Information collected is used to distribute Clontech product information via opt-in preference.
The Clontech web site uses cookies technology for tracking purposes and consistent user feedback to better our customers experience and expectations. Cookies are not linked to customer information. Our third party advertising partner employs a software technology called clear gifs (a.k.a. Web Beacons/Web Bugs), that help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content is effective. Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements of Web users. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer hard drive, clear gifs are embedded invisibly on Web pages and are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence. We do not tie the information gathered by clear gifs to our customers’ personally identifiable information.
Services used: Clontech uses Viawarp as our merchant services for processing credit card purchases. Clontech uses an analytics company to track usability on our website in order to improve our service to our customers.
4. Choice
Clontech will offer individuals the opportunity to choose (opt-out or opt-in) regarding future correspondence when subscribing to our web site for any current information. The Company will provide individuals with reasonable mechanisms to exercise their choices regarding receipt of information from Clontech. Individuals are given the opportunity to opt out when they receive an email notification from Clontech, simply click on the unsubscribe link of the e-mail). Individuals can also go to the literature request form on the web site and opt out of future messages.
5. Transfers to Agents
The Company will obtain assurances from their agents that they will safeguard personal information consistently with this Policy. Examples of appropriate assurances that may be provided by agents include: a contract obligating the agent to provide at least the same level of protection as is required by the relevant Safe Harbor Principles, being subject to EU Directive 95/46/EC (the EU Data Protection Directive), Safe Harbor certification by the agent, or being subject to another European Commission adequacy finding.

Upon request, Clontech will grant individuals reasonable access to personal information that it holds about them. In addition, the Company will take reasonable steps to permit individuals to correct, amend, or delete information that is demonstrated to be inaccurate or incomplete.
In addition customers can contact Clontech directly via the feedback form on the web site to opt out or update their contact information. Simply type “opt out” in the comment box and the information will updated within 30 days.
7. Security
Clontech will take reasonable precautions to protect personal information in its possession from loss, misuse and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our web site.
The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it.
