Minimizing the level of endotoxin contamination in purified plasmid DNA is critical for many applications. For this reason, MACHEREY-NAGEL has developed a specific patented procedure that reduces endotoxins to a very low level. Unlike competitor kits, there is no need for a time-consuming incubation step to remove the endotoxins (see procedure). The working procedure for endotoxin-free plasmid preparation is identical to the standard protocol. NucleoBond Xtra EF features up to 68% reduced prep times and up to 100% increased yields of endotoxin-free plasmid DNA compared to other commercially available kits.
NucleoBond Xtra filters: These specially designed column filters are supplied inserted in the NucleoBond Xtra EF columns. They allow a convenient and time-saving parallel clarification of bacterial lysate and loading onto the column. The large, structured filter surface leads to high filter flow rates and minimizes the risk of clogging.
NucleoBond Xtra columns: The enlarged columns lead to lower silica resin beds and enable faster flow of lysate and buffers through the columns, allowing for a fast purification.
NucleoBond Xtra EF buffers: Optimized buffer compositions lead to improved alkaline lysis, increased column flow rates, highest yields, and most efficient endotoxin removal.
NucleoBond Xtra finalizers: The finalizers, provided with the Plus kits, replace the time-consuming centrifugation step that follows every isopropanol precipitation of diluted DNA samples.
