The NucleoSpin gDNA Clean-Up and NucleoSpin gDNA Clean-Up XS kits provide the easiest and fastest way to clean up and concentrate large genomic DNA fragments from enzymatic reactions or prepurified samples (extracted using organic solvents such as phenol/chloroform)—or to perform buffer exchange. These kits can be used to remove contaminants such as salts, enzymes, nucleotides, labeling reagents, etc. by selective binding to a silica membrane in a spin column format, using a simple bind-wash-elute procedure. The proven silica membrane technology is an effective alternative to the widely used Centricon concentrator columns for cleaning and concentrating samples extracted by standard “organic” methods.
NucleoSpin gDNA Clean-Up includes mini spin columns (50–100 µl elution volume) to purify standard samples (< 150 µl aqueous DNA solution containing < 25 µg DNA), while NucleoSpin gDNA Clean-Up XS includes XS columns (6–10 µl elution volume) to purify very small samples (< 400 µl aqueous DNA solution containing < 2 µg DNA). The NucleoSpin gDNA Clean-Up XS Column contains a unique silica membrane that allows the smallest elution volumes. Due to its high sensitivity, the XS kit is particularly well-suited for purifying trace levels of DNA from forensic samples. These kits reduce sample preparation time to 15–20 min, compared to > 1 hr for ultrafiltration devices.
