Doxycycline, Doxycycline Hyclate, Doxycycline Hydrochloride, or Dox

Doxycycline (doxycycline hyclate, doxycycline hydrochloride, or Dox) is a synthetic tetracycline derivative that is the effector molecule for Clontech's Tet-On and Tet-Off Inducible expression systems. For example, when bound by Dox, the Tet-On transactivator protein undergoes a conformational change that allows it to bind to tet operator sequences located in a TRE promoter and activate transcription.
