Vascular endothelial cells line the entire circulatory system, and are composed of many distinct types with unique functions. Lymph endothelial cells (LECs) and blood endothelial cells (BECs) have been the subject of intensive study; both types of cells express a similar set of markers, such as CD31, CD34, podocalyxin, and von Willebrand factor (vWF). It has been difficult to distinguish between LECs and BECs in the past. This antibody reacts especially with the arterial microcirculating system, including small arteries and blood capillaries, and also reacts with some small venous endothelial cells. It does not react with LECs.
This product is an affinity-purified IgG antibody that recognizes mouse BECs. The antibody was raised in rat, and can be used for immunohistochemical (IHC) detection of mouse BECs.
