This kit is a solid-phase sandwich ELISA that uses two antibodies that are highly specific to human Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP4); one is pre-coated on the ELISA plate and the other is HRP-conjugated. This assay kit can be used to measure human DPP4 protein in serum, EDTA-plasma, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, and cell culture supernatants.
DPP4 (also known as CD26) is a transmembrane glycoprotein receptor that is involved in T cell activation. In addition, DPP4 functions as a serine exopeptidase to regulate various physiological processes by cleavage of substrates including hormones, growth factors, chemokines, and incretins. One DPP4 target is glucagonlike peptide-1 (GLP-1), an incretin that regulates insulin secretion; recently, DPP4 inhibitors have been developed for the treatment of diabetes. In addition to regulating glucose metabolism, it is thought that DPP4 plays a role in tumor biology, and its expression is used as a marker for various cancers.
