Galectin-3-binding protein (also known as LGALS3BP, Mac-2bp, or 90K) is a N-glycosylated, secreted ligand of Galectin-3. Galectin proteins contain carbohydrate-recognition-binding domains (CRDs) that bind beta-galactoside sugars and are involved in mediating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. It is thought that LGALS3BP may regulate cell adhesion through interaction with Galectin-3. LGALS3BP has been found to be elevated in the serum of cancer patients and patients infected with HIV.
This kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA that uses two highly specific antibodies to detect human LGALS3BP (Mac-2bp); one is precoated on the ELISA plate, and the other is HRP-conjugated. This kit can be used to measure human LGALS3BP (Mac-2bp) in serum, EDTA-plasma, or cell culture supernatant samples.
