Stem cell factor (SCF) and its receptor c-Kit can exist both as a transmembrane protein and a soluble protein. SCF is also known as Kit ligand (KL-1, Kitl), steel factor (SF), mast cell growth factor (MGF), familial progressive hyperpigmentation 2 (FPH2), and SHEP7. It plays an important role in hematopoiesis, spermatogenesis, and melanogenesis. Functional SCF and c-Kit are critical to the development and survival of hematopoietic stem cells. Interaction of SCF with c-Kit, a tyrosine kinase, results in increased autophosphorylation activity.

This kit is a solid-phase sandwich ELISAs using two antibodies that are highly specific to human SCF protein; one is precoated on the ELISA plate and the other is HRP-conjugated. This kit can be used to measure soluble human SCF protein in cell culture supernatant.
