Nestin is a member of the intermediate filament (IF) protein family and is expressed primarily in neuronal precursor cells. Upon differentiation, nestin gene expression is downregulated and it is replaced by tissue-specific IF proteins. Nestin expression has been used as a marker for central nervous system (CNS) progenitor cells. Recent studies have indicated that it is also expressed in follicle stem cells and proliferating endothelial cells. Nestin is also known as FLJ21841 and Nbla00170.
This product is an affinity-purified IgG antibody that recognizes human nestin protein. The antibody was raised in rabbit using a synthetic peptide, and can be used for Western blot (WB) detection or immunohistochemical (IHC) detection of human nestin protein.
