Anti-Human MBD2 Rabbit IgG Antibody

DNA methylation is a major epigenetic modification of eukaryotic genomes and plays an essential role in mammalian development. A family of nuclear proteins, characterized by the presence of a methyl-CpG binding domain (MBD), has been identified as interacting with methylated DNA. Methyl-CpG binding domain protein 2 (MBD2) can also repress transcription from methylated gene promoters by binding to CpG islands. MBD2 is known to recruit histone deacetylases and DNA methyltransferases. It may enhance the activation of some unmethylated cAMP-responsive promoters. MBD2 is also known as DMTase and NY-CO-41.

This product is an affinity-purified IgG antibody that recognizes human MBD2 protein. The antibody was raised in rabbit using a synthetic peptide, and can be used for Western blot (WB) detection of human MBD2 protein.
